Case Study
The Challenge
When Get IT Right began working with an emerging world-class resort and recreation destination in Southern California, the technology environment was already highly complex.
The property depended on technology for guest connectivity, employee operations, audiovisual systems, security infrastructure, communications, facility systems and a growing ecosystem of connected devices distributed throughout a large indoor and outdoor environment. For a destination like this, technology problems do not stay confined to the IT department.
A network issue can affect the guest experience. A connectivity problem can impact operations. A configuration mistake can interfere with critical systems. And when the venue is busy, even a seemingly small infrastructure limitation can quickly become a much larger operational problem. The client needed more than traditional break-fix IT support.
They needed a technology partner capable of understanding the entire environment, identifying weaknesses before they became outages and responding quickly when changing business requirements demanded immediate action.
Looking Beyond Whether the Network Was Simply “Working”
One of the first priorities was gaining a deeper understanding of the infrastructure already in place.
A system can appear healthy while still containing design limitations, legacy configurations or capacity constraints that will only become visible when demand increases.
Get IT Right began evaluating the environment as a complete system rather than treating each piece of equipment or technology platform independently.
That process uncovered several areas where existing configurations were not aligned with the actual operational requirements of the property. One of the most significant discoveries involved guest wireless connectivity. The existing guest network had been designed with capacity for only a fraction of the venue's expected daily attendance. Under lighter usage, everything could appear completely normal.
But as attendance increased, the underlying address limitation had the potential to prevent large numbers of guests from connecting at all. Get IT Right identified the issue before it developed into a widespread customer-facing failure and began redesigning the environment around the property's actual operating requirements.
Reducing Hidden Infrastructure Risk
The guest network capacity issue was only one example of what a deeper infrastructure review revealed.
Get IT Right systematically examined network segmentation, switch configurations, power availability, uplinks, wireless connectivity, multicast traffic, security controls and physical connectivity throughout the property. Legacy and unnecessary configurations were identified and removed where appropriate.
Unused network segments were cleaned up to reduce unnecessary complexity. Disabled network connections were standardized so that unused infrastructure was handled consistently and securely. Public wireless traffic was reviewed to ensure that guest access remained appropriately separated from internal business resources.
Power utilization across network infrastructure was analyzed to identify areas approaching available capacity before those limitations resulted in equipment failures. Connectivity supporting audiovisual systems was also evaluated and optimized to improve reliability for applications where network performance directly affects the customer experience.
Each improvement may appear small when viewed independently.
Together, they substantially reduce the number of hidden problems waiting to surface during the property's busiest moments.
Building Visibility Into a Complex Property
Another major objective was establishing a clearer understanding of how the physical and logical infrastructure connected together. Large properties often evolve quickly. Equipment is added. Systems are expanded. Contractors complete projects. Temporary solutions become permanent. Documentation does not always keep pace.
Over time, that can make troubleshooting significantly more difficult.
Get IT Right worked to develop a more complete understanding of the property's network paths, connectivity, infrastructure relationships and critical systems.
That visibility dramatically changes how incidents can be handled. Instead of beginning every problem with a discovery exercise, the support team can make decisions with an understanding of how the environment is actually built. The result is faster troubleshooting, better change planning and a significantly lower risk of one change unexpectedly affecting another system.
Supporting a Venue That Never Stands Still
The property continues to evolve, and that means the technology environment must evolve with it. New systems are introduced. Infrastructure requirements change.
Events create temporary demands that may not exist during normal operations. Vendors require connectivity. Last-minute operational requests appear. And occasionally circumstances outside anyone's control require immediate decisions. Get IT Right's role has become more than maintaining the network.
It is providing the technical depth and operational responsiveness necessary to support a destination where technology is deeply integrated into the guest experience and everyday operations.
That means evaluating changes before they are implemented, troubleshooting across multiple technology disciplines and remaining available when unexpected problems occur.
From Reactive IT to Continuous Improvement
The engagement has increasingly shifted the property's technology strategy away from simply responding to failures. Instead, the environment is being continually evaluated for opportunities to improve:
-
Capacity, so infrastructure can support actual guest and operational demand
-
Reliability, by identifying weaknesses before they become outages
-
Security, through appropriate segmentation and access controls
-
Performance, by optimizing connectivity supporting critical systems
-
Consistency, by removing unnecessary legacy configurations and establishing standards
-
Visibility, so problems can be diagnosed faster and changes can be made with greater confidence
-
Resilience, by planning infrastructure around the operational realities of a large destination
The objective is not simply to keep technology running. It is to make the infrastructure increasingly predictable, manageable and prepared for what the property needs next.
The Results
Get IT Right has helped transform the way technology is managed across the property. Potential capacity problems are now being identified before they become customer-facing outages.
Previously inconsistent configurations have been standardized. Unnecessary legacy configurations have been removed. Infrastructure utilization is actively monitored rather than assumed. Critical connectivity paths are better understood. Guest-facing technology is being evaluated against real attendance and operational requirements.
And when new technologies or business requirements are introduced, they can be evaluated as part of the overall environment rather than as isolated projects.
Most importantly, the client has access to a team capable of responding across the different technologies that support the property.
For a complex resort and recreation destination, that depth of support provides something increasingly important: Confidence that someone understands the environment when the unexpected happens.
Technology Built for What Comes Next
The most dangerous infrastructure problems are often not the ones causing an outage today. They are the capacity limits, configuration inconsistencies and design decisions that appear harmless until the business places real demand on them.
Get IT Right helps organizations find those problems early, build stronger infrastructure and provide the engineering support necessary to keep complex environments moving forward. Because when your business depends on technology, waiting for something to break is not a strategy.

What the Client Says
“There is real value in having a team behind you instead of one overworked person trying to do it all. Get IT Right gives you that and then some."
"We are building something big and our IT setup was anything but simple. Tristan handled what could have been a nightmare without breaking a sweat.” ”
